OpenStudy (anonymous):

im drawing my question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1397607456643:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Estimate the area of the circle to the nearest square inch.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First you need the formula for the area of the circle A=pi r^2. Your radius is 14. Plug in. A=3.14 * 14^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is this ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is indicating the number after it is an exponent. So r squared or r times r

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find the area multiply 3.14 *14 *14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 87.92 and it estimate to A. 88 in is that right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you square a number you multiply it by itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what you want to do is take the radius 14 and multiply it by 14 to get 196

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then multiply 196 by pi (3.14) to get 615.44 and round to the nearest whole number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your answer to the nearest square inch should be 615 square inches

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i was doing a whole different question so the answer is C. 616 in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes 616 would be the best choice.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hope this helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanxs ill give you a medal can you help me with another question plzz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have to draw it again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1397608565665:dw| and i got C from what you tot me 3.14(18)(18)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SO the problem you have here is they gave you the diameter. The radius is half of the diameter because it extends from the center of the circle to the edge. Replace 18 with 9 and you will get the right answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What did you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

254.34

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good. Round it to the nearest whole number to get A for the correct answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help with all my math questions if i have more of theses because you tech good i get how you tech thanxs :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can help with a couple more. I have about 15 minutes before I have to get off here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the surface area of a cube with side length of 4.5 cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Surface area is the area of all the sides added together. because it is a cube all sides are 4.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiply 4.5*4.5 to get the area of one side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i have to do 4.5*6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because there are six identical sides you can simply multiply this answer by 6 to get the surface area of the entire cube

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4.5*4.5*6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you get 121.5 square cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Awesome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the volume of a cube with side length of 7.2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7.2*7.2*7.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 373.248 but why did you only do 3 faces

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Volume is measuring how much "stuff" something can hold

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So we multiply its length and width to get the area of the base and then multiply by the height to get its' volume

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh can i ask you somthing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you a student or an adult

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am both

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh your really good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am a teacher who is continuing my math education in college

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh thats why

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes this is my ninth year of college and my third degree

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The teacher in me just can't resist the opportunity to answer questions for other people

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's going to be all for to day because i have to get off but i have some more and thanxs again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Me too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bye
