Which sentence does not contain any punctuation errors? A. There are other ways to have fun. you could go to the park. B. There are other ways to have fun, you could go to the park. C. There are other ways to have fun you could go to the park. D. There are other ways to have fun; you could go to the park.

I was thinking B....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would have to say, D. because semicolons separate (almost all the time) independent clauses. And, I think you could say 'There are other ways to have fun.' and 'You could go to the park.' alone, and still know what it means. =]

Let me look into it more, I could be wrong. XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, what do you think its is @sammixboo?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so, my grammar book says: "Use a semicolon between the clauses of a compound sentence that are not joined by a conjunction (but, and, or)"

sammixboo (sammixboo):

I believe it is D., because semicolons do separate phrases... If you use a comma you would have to rephrase the sentence... Like: There are other ways to have fun, like going to the park.

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Yes. What @Nibyssin said.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My book also says, "Use a semicolon only if the clauses are closely related." So, that would mean, it has to be a related thought. So... I agree what @sammixboo says. =]

ok thank you @Nibyssin & @sammixboo :)

sammixboo (sammixboo):

You are welcome ;)
