Solve. 2k^2+25=15k

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Do you know factorization?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A little bit

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Okay, so the first step is to put all on the same side. So 2k^2+25=15k becomes 2k^2-15k+25= 0 Got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got it.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Then try to think of two numbers such that when you multiply them you get 2*25, and when you add them, you get -15. It takes practice. What two numbers can you think of?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does it have to give me 25.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

2*25, so 50.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

The numbers are -10 and -5. -10+-5 = -15 and -10*-5 = 50. So you have 2k^2-10k - 5k+25= 0 Now factorize.
