Please help me

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

John and 2 friends are going out for lunch. They split one pizza and each had a large drink. He determined that the cost of three drinks plus $3.00 is only $1.55 less than the cost of a pizza. A pizza is six and one-half times the cost of one drink. What is the cost of a drink?

@AccessDenied I need you again !

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 drinks +$3 = pizza - $1.55 pizza= 6½ × drink

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

3d+3=p-1.55 p=6.5d

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

Should I use the substitution method?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets work further... 3 drinks +$3 = pizza - $1.55 add $1.55 dollar to both sides ( Because if saying that pizza is 1.55 dollars less than, is same as saying that drinks +$3 is 1.55 more than the pizza ) 3 d +$3 = p - $1.55 3 d +$3 +$1.55= p 3 d +$4.55= p So you now have, 3 d +$4.55= p p= 6.5 d yes. sub...

I got the same equation, except that I simplified the first one a little bit more.

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

3d+4.55=6.5 4.55=3.5d 1.3=d

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

Is it 1.3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, good

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

Thank you
