Given the following equation: https://s3.amazonaws.com/algebranation/testyourself_uploads/upload-20130920-15:31:13/images/4-16.jpg What should be the value of 10x - 7?
@student_basil
1) cross multiply, and solve for x. 2) when you get the value of the x, plug it into " 10x - 7" to get your final answer.
Oh
Tell me what you get when you finish, to make sure you don't leave with wring answer.
x=-2
10(-2)-7 -20-7 -27
I am thinking that.... \(\Large\color{blue}{ \bf \frac{5}{5x+7}=\frac{4}{2x-3} }\) \(\Large\color{blue}{ \bf 4(5x+7)=5(2x-3) }\) \(\Large\color{blue}{ \bf 20x+28~~=~~10x-15 }\) \(\Large\color{red}{ \bf -10x-28~~~~~-10x-28 }\) \(\Large\color{blue}{ \bf 10x~~=~-42 }\) \(\Large\color{green}{ \bf 10x - 7 }\) \(\Large\color{green}{ \bf 10(-42) - 7 }\) finish it... GET IT ?
it is one of like SAT questions you know? you don't even need to find x, you just need to find 10x, and then you can plug it in right away.
Oh I forgot to multiply 7 and 4
-420-7 -427
Yeah, there you go !
Possible answers: A. -50 B. -43/10 C. -5 D. -36
My bad
Should be B right
it is 10x-7 and -42 is 10x, not just x.
so it would be -42-7 -49 b/c -42 is a sub for 10x, not just one x.
So the closest, (still pretty dumb,.... but the closest one would be...) A
Isn't it B because the other thing?
?
you know that 10x is -42 right ?
so just subtract 7 from that.....
why is 10x -42
See my colorful solution above ?
