How have political communications changed throughout history?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are a few answers for this one, but I can help with a few examples. Radio was a big game changer -- politicians could now speak to many people at once using it and send their message across the nation. Roosevelt was famous for his "fireside chats" on the radio where he'd just talk to the nation from the White House. Television was also another big game changer because people could now see the people that represented them. Politicians now had to worry about how they presented themselves on television as opposed to just being face to face because of the impression that could make. They still had to plan a good speech and say the right things, but now they had to worry about whether they looked good on television, too.
