OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

We need to quit helping students who are taking exams, tests, or quizzes because we shouldn't have to do their work for them or should not give them the dang answers....

OpenStudy (therealmeeeee):

We don't help people with Tests you can get suspended or Banned for helping people with tests

OpenStudy (preetha):

Thank you for raising this important point. The Code of Conduct is very clear about this. And as a member of the community we need your help to spread the word.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Well, right in the CoC it states that we are unable to provide direct answers. You can simply remind users who are giving direct answers of that. Also, when it comes to the tests, exams, quizzes you can nicely write that we are unable to help users on them. As Preetha said, spreading the word of the rules can help end the cheating.

OpenStudy (therealmeeeee):

@Preetha why don't you assign me and Becca to go to all the Category's and say that?

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

There's no need to assign specific users to remind the rules. Each and every user should have read the CoC when joining OpenStudy. Anyone can help each other out by just saying "hey don't forget we can't do this"

OpenStudy (therealmeeeee):

I don't this half of the people who sign up don't even read it...

OpenStudy (therealmeeeee):

We all can help stop Cheating together xD

OpenStudy (therealmeeeee):

Before we help with the question we can ask if this is a test.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

We are well aware of the fact that most users do not read the Code of Conduct. We only can hope that they will read it with time. When there is a situation, sometimes taking parts of the CoC and showing the user it can help. If you ask a user right away "is this a test" They might feel like it's an interrogation. It's best to just get the knowledge they have before hand. Keep asking the user questions based on current knowledge. Once you have enough learned you can then help fully guide them. The only way we can really know if it is a test or not is by them admitting to it right away or having certain moderators who work for schools check into it. Sometimes googling the question can help you figure out if it's a test question or not.

OpenStudy (therealmeeeee):

or we can go and post the CoC in all Subjects

OpenStudy (therealmeeeee):

I shall go post the CoC in all

OpenStudy (seaturtle113):

I agree this is a problem, I just think more awareness should be brought to the CoC in general. I concur with beccaboo as well. We must deal with this personally when answering question. I just wish there was an easier, more effective way to do this.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

That isn't necessary. There's only a small fraction of users on here who actually are trying to cheat on tests.

OpenStudy (therealmeeeee):

Now how can I get to the CoC?

OpenStudy (seaturtle113):

http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct

OpenStudy (therealmeeeee):

Thanks

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Andre, there is no need to post it in all the subjects. It will become a spam thread as well as be a spam thread itself. The best thing to do is message the user saying "hey you may want to check out the code of conduct"

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Plus, there are well over 100 different subjects on OpenStudy. You would be unable to post it in all the subjects and keep up with every comment or question made on it.

OpenStudy (seaturtle113):

Becca has very valid points. The best thing is just to personally address this problem with users you see abusing this rule.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

Unfortunately, when you let users know that we are not allowed to help students with their tests or quizzes, they don't care and usually won't listen...=/

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

yeah, sometimes they are like "This is a free country! and you can't tell me what to do!" or "Why are you targeting me?" the not reading the code of conduct thing is more wide spread than you think o.o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This brings up a good point, but there is only so much one can do. I usually ignore the posts or report them. But the thing is, some people just ask specific questions by writing them out so we're unable to tell if it's from a test, exam, etc. For all we know, all questions are test questions even though that's a blunt statement. But, I guess it's up to the user to make their best judgement on whether the person deserves help or not. I'm sure most of us would report/ ignore test questions if it's obvious, usually has ( 5 marks) or something written beside the question or they post it directly, but in other cases as I mentioned before, of putting a question from a test which shows no proof it really is from a test, it comes down to the person helping.
