f(x) = x^2 + 3x - 7 For the function shown, what is the range of the function when the domain is {-3, 2, 5}?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The range of a function is just the set of values of that function for all values in the domain of the function. Is this enough to go on?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Very good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm new to figuring this stuff out just so you know ha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there another step or example that you could use to help me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have f(x) = x^2 + 3x - 7 One point or element in the domain is -3. So evaluate f(-3) = (-3)^2 + 3(-3) - 7 = -7. Then -7 is in the range of this function. It's that simple.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so we have -7 and 3 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Give me a minute. My arithmetic is dreadful.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking it may be (-7, 3, 33)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get the same numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for your help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're very welcome.
