Using the line y=2x-7 as a reference, describe how to determine the equation of a line that is perpendicular and another line that is parallel to this given line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In order to determine a parallel line, you'd use the same slope, but a different intercept. In example, an equation would be y= 2x + (?) A perpendicular line uses the inverse of the slope. The inverse of 2x is -1/2. Any point can be used for the intercept, since it doesn't specify where the perpendicular lines cross each other. So y = -.5x + (?)

For the parallel line, ? cannot equal 2.
