Why is it that I can share my SS via Twitter and Facebook, but not through Google+. This should be implimented. It gives the opportunity to reach a much broader scope of people about OS. It would help spread the word of how helpful It is also! Just a thought.
I only ask this because i don't like Facebook and i don't use Twitter. I only have a Google+
Because Facebook & Twitter are used by almost everyone. And Google+ by many fewer people. In terms of market share it's like 90% facebook, youtube and twitter. Google+ is in the other 10% which makes it far less attractive to implement a share button for that one too. You can still share your smartscore though. Just click share via Facebook or Twitter, copy the message and post it on G+
My #SmartScore is 87! Can YOU beat my SmartScore? http://openstudy.com/users/xmoses1?inviter=xmoses1&source=google+
Wow didn't think of that ^^
It wouldn't hurt to add this option anyway .-.
Even though your basic point remains valid, your statistic is way off... http://marketingland.com/wp-content/ml-loads/2013/01/gwi-social-chart.jpg Even though retaining high engangement is different, the statistics are still not horrible on G+'s part.
Google itself recently reported having 135 million “in-stream” users. About two weeks after that, Twitter reported having 200 million active users.
I agree with @Xmoses1. Google+ integration should be implemented some point down the line, and it's not at all outrageous.
Thank you @dumbsearch2 !
No problem :) @Xmoses1 Just contorted data bothers me :)
Google+ is still not the most widely used, but it is used by 135 million users.
I am glad you corrected it! If you hadn't i would not have tried to press the issue any further. And besides, it really would not hurt to have this option implemented
I hate Facebook anyway
i do agree with you; but is there any particular purpose why you hate Facebook?
It seems that it is so to lie about yourself and put on a mask for the world to see. To make people see something that you really aren't. I don't respect fakes. I don't know, it is just a lot of drama i seems anymore. That is why i don't use it now
I could be wrong, as that is only a personal matter of opinion
The people make the website what it is, not Facebook itself. I'm pretty sure Google+ isn't so entirely different.
I agree though, but that is the same with almost any community of people.
Yeah that is very true. I cant blame the website, but the people are the cause of what it has become. Oh well, it is what it is :p
yes thats true lol
Now to get this option integrated! @Preetha , @AccessDenied is it feasible to implement a G+ option to share OS?
It's probably not a priority on their list, however :) They've been very busy with stuff like their apps...
I figured as much. I need something to put that app on. I don't have any apple products
@dumbsearch2 My statistics are way off? You're comparing apples with oranges... I said market share, and you're providing a chart with social media usage. My statistics add up to 100% while yours just presents what percentage of the global internet users uses social platforms. 2 totally different things. I got my statistics from here: http://www.marketingcharts.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/experian-2014-march-social-network-sites-and-forums.png Clearly showing that G+ only has a 1.71% share in the US
90% facebook, youtube and twitter. Google+ is in the other 10% which makes it far less attractive to implement a share button for that one too. That's not the case, either. Twitter and Google+ aren't as far off as you made them appear to be...
alright 84.99%
According to your statistic, 2.29% is twitter.
59.7% is facebook
Furthermore, you originally said "In terms of market share", which is very different then market share of visits, which you did not specify.
Also, your originally point was trying to prove that Google+ login should not be implemented because of such its small market share. Not the case, sir. You were bringing up an entirely different topic by bringing in the market share of views... Here are the statistics for Google+ login: http://allfacebook.com/files/2013/10/JanrainSocialLogin3Q.jpg And I'm sure that has not changed significantly since Q3 2013.
Well yea, G+ is used as login for youtube... makes sense Doesn't mean the actual social network platform of G+ is that popular
Also I'm not saying that there should not be such a button. Just saying that since G+ is not very popular yet, there is no need to rush it either. Might be next year
Who cares, its still attractive to implement.
I'm not for rushing it either, just I've seen many major websites implementing it before even Twitter... And my statistic proves it, 33% is Google+ and 7% is Twitter.
The Facebook and Twitter share buttons are rarely used anyway
Search for #smartscore on twitter. Maybe 2 tweets a month?
Yes, I agree- just your initial point was that it was less attractive to implement than twitter or facebook.
By the way, I'm not certain whether YouTube actually utilizes the social login API. I'll have to check whether or not that study includes Google products.
Let's say that OS has priorities that go way beyond these minor details :) Pretty sure I have to login to youtube using G+, since I can also switch to the social network platform and every other google service with the same login.
Then would it also include Gmail?
Also, I'm talking about what the statistic includes, not what YouTube uses. I know that YouTube uses Google login.
It is a minor detail. I just enjoy discussing, and I don't think it would be something that wouldn't have to be ignored in the future.
> By the way, I'm not certain whether YouTube actually utilizes the social login API. I meant whether or not YouTube uses the actual developer platform APIs, verus logging in directly through the servers.
Well if they'd ever implement more share buttons, they should make them more notable. Like on the empty space left and right, instead of in the smartscore popup
I agree :)
And that also includes the Like, Tweet button- it would be cool also to include a G+ button.
By the way I'm sure none of this would be that hard to implement. It would literally take 10 minutes max.
