OpenStudy (anonymous):

To the nearest degree, what is the measure of the central angle for bathing ? A.) 30° B.) 98° C.)108° D.) 68°

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I'm afraid this question needs work. What do you mean by "bathing," and how could "bathing" have a "central angle?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

theres the circle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mathmale ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the answer is B

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Oh...you're talking about a "pie chart" and notice that bathing takes up 30% of a family's water usage in a year. and you want to do ... what ???

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Not find the central angle for bathing, but rather to find the central angle represented by 30% of the full "pie."

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Any idea of what to do next?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is b

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Sorry, but I don't deal in "answers." I know others do that all the time here, but I'd much prefer you explain your reasoning in choosing "B."

OpenStudy (mathmale):

the central angle must be in radians, not in degrees. Perhaps you already know that 2Pi radians equals 360 degrees (one full circle). What is 30% of 2Pi radians? convert 30% to a decimal fraction before you multiply.
