can someone help me with my geometry work? its a page in my text book i have to do and ive been stuck on it for a week!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if anyone could even just help with activity 1 for now thatd be great

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(i also don't need to draw the graphs for activity 2&3)

hero (hero):

According to the text, for any given category, to find its central angle measure, you take the given percentage and multiply it by 360. For example, the participants in the survey spent 31% of their time sleeping. To find the central angle that corresponds with Sleep perform this calculation: \[\frac{31}{100} \times 360\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, so the answer for sleep would be 111.6 ? @Hero

hero (hero):

Actually, that appears to be correct. Let me double-check.

hero (hero):

Very good, so just follow suit with the rest of the other categories and calculate their central angles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, that's actually super easy haha!

hero (hero):

Just to be thorough, make sure you include the degree symbol since angles are expressed in degrees: \[111.6^{\circ}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

should i do that for all of them ?

hero (hero):

Try doing the next one and see what you get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also, when im finding the central angle for activity 2 & 3, i still multiply by 360?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and i got 32.4

hero (hero):

The approaches for Activity 1 and 2 are similar as far as calculating the central angle. For activity 3, looks like you might need to do a bit more work to find the actual percentages first before calculating the central angle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hero, okay, so i finished activity one and two, and now im confused on how i turn the numbers into percent's?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause i don't have like a second number to compare, i don't think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or do i just multiply it by 100? IM SO CONFUSED

OpenStudy (nikato):

Haha. I like your nail. Random? To calculate percent, the first thing you should do in this problem is to find the whole, which you can find by adding all the numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks haha! and the whole is 9,000 @nikato

OpenStudy (nikato):

Ok. And lets say you want to find percent of rock. So it'll just be (3150/9000) x100=your percent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much omg!!!!

OpenStudy (nikato):

no problem. do the same with the others. just change the first number, the sales(dollars)number
