Start with the point B (-1, -4). Reflect the point through the y-axis. What are the new coordinates of the point B’? Now reflect the point through the x-axis. What are the new coordinates of the point B’’? What is the relationship between the original point B and B’’? Can you describe this in terms of one reflection?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well reflecting a point first through the y-axis is just simply changing the x coordinate to a negative if positive, and vice versa.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Start with the point B (-1, -4). (-1,-4) Reflect the point through the y-axis: (1,-4) Now reflect the point through the x-axis. (1,4) Just follow the bounding ball.

and same for x-axis but change the y coordinate to a positive, if negative, and again vice versa.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and as in terms of comparing, from B to B' flipping through the y-axis gives a 90° clockwise, and flipping through the y axis gives another 90° turn clockwise, so it is a 180° clockwise turn.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and if your looking for a 1 time reflection, from (-1,-4) to (1,4) it is reflected across the origin ( (0,0) )

and that completely answers your question :)
