If the perimeter of a square is one hundred ninety-six miles, what is its area? fourteen square miles fifty-six square miles one hundred ninety-six square miles two thousand four hundred one square miles @mathmale can yo uplease help

oops ment @mathmale can you please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2401

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I'm helping another student; I'll be back as soon as possible. How does one find the perimeter of a square? If the perimeter is given, how do you find the length of one side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

196 divided by 4 = 49 so then you take 49 and multiply that by its self so 49 x 49 = 2401

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@crewfan: thanks for your input. But... please see http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct It asks that we give help, NOT answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry @mathmale

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Aaron: Crewfan's approach is correct: From the 196-mile-long perimeter of the square, we obtain the length of one side. P=4s, where s=length of one side of the square. Area of the square is A=x^2. Just replace x with your value for s. Again, as Crewfan has explained, this will lead to the value of the area of this square.

oh ok thank you

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Happy to work with you! Until later, then, bye!
