Take a look at this picture. http://puu.sh/8nIp9.png The sine of an angle is just the y-value of the unit circle. Since you want sin(theta) to be positive, theta must be in between 0 and 180 degrees. sin(theta) = sqrt2/2 is a common one, and you should commit it to memory. It's theta = pi/4. In the second quadrant, it's also 3pi/4. Same for cos(theta).
