polar coordinates
Find all polar coordinates of point P where P = ordered pair 5 comma pi divided by 3.
(5, pi/3)
yeah, thats the problems equation
i get that its going to be +-5 but how do you determine what pi/3 goes with?
adding 360 tot he angle will not change anything, so : \( (5, ~\pi/3 + 2\pi n)\) where \(n = ... -2, -1, 0, 1, 2...\)
similarly setup another general pair with -5
so it will also be (-5, pi/3 + 2pi n)
not quite, when u take negative radius, u need to add 180 to the angle
pi/3 + pi = 4pi/3
so it will also be (-5, 4pi/3 + 2pi n)
and if thats not one of my answers and (-5, pi/3 +2pin) is.... then.... that would be the answer :D
(5, pi/3) can be represented as : ` (5, pi/3 + 2pi n)` or ` (-5, 4pi/3 + 2pi n)`
No other ways possible in polar
yay c: okay thank you ^.^
-5, pi/3 + 2pi n represents (5, 4pi/3) it does not represent (5, pi/3)
u may be having below in ur options : \( \left(5,~ \dfrac{\pi}{3} + 2 n\pi\right)\) \( \left(-5, ~\dfrac{\pi}{3} + (2n+1)\pi\right) \) ?
