What is the independent clause in this sentence? Though Anne did not survive the war, her diary lives on. Though Anne did not survive the war Though Anne her diary lives on lives on

Okay, you really need to understand this concept. First, you need to know what an independent clause is. Once you know that, your task should be easy. An independent clause is a complete thought. In other words, it has a subject and a verb. Now sometimes people get confused when there are extra words thrown in there, such as subordinate conjunctions. "Though Anne did not survive the war"--> it COULD'VE been an independent clause if it weren't for the "though". With that extra word in there, it turns the phrase into an incomplete though, thus it cannot stand alone by itself. "Though Anne"---> this should be pretty self-explanatory. First off, there is no verb, whatsoever. Automatically, that is considered as incomplete. "Her diary lives on"-- the subject is "diary" and the verb is "lives". This entire phrase is a complete thought. "Lives on"---> no, just no. there's no subject, so it can't possibly be an independent clause.
