Algebra 2 Help! Jackie is analyzing a quadratic function f(x) and a linear function g(x). Will they intersect? (I'm attaching a picture of the graph)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I don't think that they will. The line has a slope of y=-x, and it misses the parabola. completely in the range that you've given us. o.o I could be wrong now that I think of it.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yes, correct, they will not intersect.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, are you both saying that it is option D? @halorazer @SolomonZelman

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, yes we are.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yes...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks (:

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

OPTIONAL: OK, I just want to ask you, what if I had f(x)=1 as my linear function would you say intersect or don't ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...no?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

HINT: "f(x)" is just a substitute for "y" So when you say f(x)=1, you are just saying y=1

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

go ahead please .... I didn't mean to interrupt you...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was just going to say okay

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

okay, like "they will intersect" or what ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They will

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yes...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks (:

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yw :) for your q, and my optional one. Good luck !
