derivatives
Find the derivative of f(x) = 5x + 9 at x = 2.
Your derivative function is pretty simple. You do f'(x) = d/dx(5x + 9)
The addition rule says that this is equal to f'(x) = d/dx(5x) + d/dx(9)
Taking the derivative of cx is always equal to c, where c is a constant.
For example the derivative of 10x is 10, the derivative of 1502x is 1502. The derivative of 5x is 5.
So your equation should now be f'(x) = 5 + d/dx(9)
Always remember that the derivative of a constant is always equal to 0. The derivative of 1 is 0, the derivative of 40 is 0. The derivative of 9 is 0
So in the end, your equation will be f'(x) = 5
I'm betting that since it is such a simple function she has to use the definition of a derivative
Oh actually ya my bad
.-. im so lost ive input x into the equation to 5(2)+9 =19 but 19 isnt an answer and so if im finding the derivative and derivative is the number that comes before x... and im pretty sure that guy is mocking me.... so the answer would be 5?
the answer is 5. But I might've shown you the wrong way
Ok did your class teach you about limits?
No, im learning this stuff online by myself and half the stuff the book goes over is in mathematic scholars words and then the other half they just skip over :p
Ok you need to first learn limits. Then you can learn about derivatives
In my calculus book, we first learn about limits. Then we can use limits to find derivatives.
And then you'll learn cool ways to find derivatives
.-. math is not cool.... nomatter what you do with it.....
But the first step in learning calculus is learning about limits. It's almost impossible to learn calculus by not learning it in the correct order.
Hey, I have a really good idea.
There is a youtube channel, called "Professor Leonard". This is a profressor who teaches basic calculus at his university. He recorded his videos.
If you want to learn calculus, he has videos on the course Calculus AB. He's a really good teacher
But i'll have to warn you, it'll be hard to learn calculus without doing some problems. So you should try to find an online textbook, or perhaps buy your own textbook. You need to practice by doing some problems to really become fluent at it.
like i have an online book it just really sucks at teaching it because it doesnt describe it very well. will that youtube thing help with PRE calc cuz thats what im in
