The equation of line XY is (y−3) = negative 2 over 3(x − 4). What is the slope of a line perpendicular to XY?

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Hold on, i'm going to work it out >.<

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

I know the slope of this line is -2/3 so we need to find the reciprocal of the slope. The reciprocal would be -3/2 but if you change the sign it's 3/2 so 3/2 is the slop of the lind perpendicular of XY :)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

If I take your problem statement literally, here's the equation I get:\[y-3=\frac{ -2 }{ 3(x-4) }\] This is not the equation of a straight line. Please present your problem again, making sure to copy it down as close to the appearance of the original problem as you can get it. You could draw your equation, as in|dw:1398699980519:dw|
