A square with a side of 12 is increased to a side of 15. By how much is the diagonal increased by?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

use the pythagorean theorem to find the diagonal when it was 12 then when it's 15 then get their difference, that's how much the diagonal increased by

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

a diagonal is always \[\sqrt{2}\times side\]

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

....using the pythagorean theorum like jdoe said

OpenStudy (loser66):

@jdoe0001 I solved but I don't know what exactly is. 3 , right?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm, true.. you could just use the 3x3 square too

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

so it will be \[15\sqrt{2}-12\sqrt{2}\] i think... correct me if i am wrong @jdoe0001
