whats is the main difference between magma and lava?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

magma refers to molten rock which is still underground in vents. On the other hand, lava refers to molten rock which has found its way to the ground after and eruption and is flowing.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

In very general terms, magma rock can be identified by large crystal growth which occurs due to very slow cooling and solidification below the earth's surface. Lava rock tends to have very small crystals because it cools very rapidly, which prohibits extensive crystal growth
