Use the photo below taken in the 1990s to answer the following question: Why would citizens in the newly independent country of Latvia remove this statue of former Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin? A new and more modern statue of Vladimir Lenin would be erected instead. The statue had suffered damages during protests and now needed vital repairs. Lenin's support of democratic ideas was not welcomed by communist parties. Lenin's communist ideals were no longer supported by the people.

I'm leaning towards c and d. What do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D. Lenin was defenitely not supporting democratic ideals, and newly independent Latvia would have hated Lenin because he created the USSR (Stalin annexed it though). I'll quote some of Lenin's writing to show how anti-democratic he was.

CORRECTION-Lenin was against bourgeiosie democracy, but he introduced Council Democracy into the USSR during his reforms. But C refers to the meaning that Latvia was still communist, so I'm for D :)
