What role did nationalism and alliance systems play in the out break of first ww1?
Played the role of being the "oxygen" to the "fire" Fire needs oxygen to survive. Lets compare this analogy to the case of WWI. When the Prince was shot, tensions between Germany and France, and German and Britain were very high. Nationalism and pride in those country were also very high; to protect the self-interests of those nations, those nations were more than wanting to go to war. Also, these nations had alliance with each other; Austria Hungary with Germany and Britain with France, leading to the bringing of other countries in.
this is what I have and is it right and I guess I need help summarizing it.

Several Slavic groups The entire peninsula had been under the control of the Ottoman Empire since the 1500s, but the power of the empire had been declining for several hundred years. By 1912, the Ottomans had been driven almost completely out of Europe. Now many of these independent Slavs wanted to liberate Slavs under Austro-Hungarian rule.
