-1/12 - 3/4 =
Solve the problem first and tell me what you get.
The idea is to get a 'common denominator'. That being that the number on the bottom is the same, so that they can be added easily
I have a different answer. How did you get to your answer?
I got 4/16 my bad
Explain how you get there. I just want to see.
You have to get the denominators the same on both fractions, so let's start! We are going to keep -1/12 the same, but change 3/4. Since 4 goes into 12 three times you multiply the denominator and the numerator by three... 3 x 3 9 - - = -- 4 x 3 12 So now 3/4 is 9/12... Let's rewrite the problem. -1/12 - 9/12 Since one of the fractions is a negative you switch the subtraction sign to addition and change 9/12 into a negative fraction. Let's rewrite the equation... -1/12 + -9/12 Now all you have to do is add the numerators... and that is your answer... What did you get?
Do you get it @9699
Yes I understand. Thank you so much!
