OpenStudy (anonymous):
\[\frac{ \sqrt{3y} }{ \sqrt{y} } = \frac{ y \sqrt{3} }{ y } = 3\]
OpenStudy (harrisonshark):
so he's right

OpenStudy (anonymous):
I could just tell you basically... treat the square roots as an X. As long as the fraction does not have addition or subtraction in it, you can cancel out similar stuff, correct?
OpenStudy (harrisonshark):
idkkkk im scared to answer and say ok
OpenStudy (harrisonshark):
dude im stupid

Oh dear. Okay okay I'll start from zero
OpenStudy (anonymous):
If you said 2^1/2, it's equal to square root of 2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you with me?
OpenStudy (harrisonshark):
k
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay. So rewrite your equation make it 3y^1/2 all divided by y^1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):
yo Narb u wrong ...
\[\frac{ \sqrt{3y} }{ \sqrt{y} } = \frac{ y \sqrt{3} }{ y } = \sqrt{3}\]
if you know pellet about math you would know that i'm right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Please park don't confuse the kid.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Think of my explanation and you'll know that i'm right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):
first multiply by \[\frac{ \sqrt{y} }{ \sqrt{y} }\] then the Y's cancel out
OpenStudy (harrisonshark):
lol im just kidding lol park was right from the start dude
OpenStudy (anonymous):
hey narb
whats ur grade in precal D? E? F???
OpenStudy (anonymous):
No park, you can cancel out the square roots from the beginning, then you're left with 3y/y which equals to what?
