How is the use of amphetamines different from the use of inhalants
Inhalants can cause immediate brain damage while amphetamines do not.

Amphetamines are in the stimulant category which usually refers to faster heart beat and pulse rate and inhalants may be either be classified as stimulants or depressants, the latter (depressants) producing effects similar to alcohol. Please do NOT use inhalants (or any types of drugs or alcohol) as not only can a person die from 'huffing' but the individual may get Brain Trauma as with my friend who was huffing and got a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) at age 12, now in her 30s. Other risks include sight loss/blindness, heart/liver/kidney damage, seizures, limb spasms, hearing loss and even death, all of which can happen after the very FIRST time of use.
Damn is your school really asking for something so broad? Amphetamines are a class of drugs rather than a drug in particular, all of them have various effects, for example, some amphetamines are prescribed for ADD sufferers to help ease the symptoms, while methamphetamine is one of the most dangerous and addictive drugs around, which has ruined many lives. Inhalants once again are just a class of drugs, even more varied than amphetamines, as amphetamines at least have a similar chemical structure. Inhalants is just a class of drugs that share the same route of administration - nasal inhalation. So you're left with anything from glue, to butane, to amyl nitrite (poppers). It really depends on which of the drugs you're comparing. For example, if you compared methamphetamine/amphetamine to amyl nitrite, you'd end up with something like this: Meth: Enjoyable Effects: - Strong stimulation - Euphoria - Connection with people around you - Desire to accomplish things Short-term Side-effects: - Decreased appetite - Pupil dilation - Jaw grinding - Aggressiveness - Unable to sleep - Desire to redose Long-term Side-effects: - Severe weight loss - Damage to heart and circulatory system - Impairment of brain function - Physical and mental addiction Poppers: Enjoyable Effects: - Short head rush - Euphoria - Connection with people around you - Relaxation of muscles, e.g. a**s muscles (One of the reason poppers are popular in the gay community) Short-term Side-effects: - Headache - Aggressiveness - Increased intraocular pressure - Vasodilation (Which can be good or bad, depending on if your blood circulation is naturally good or bad - if it's good, added vasodilation isn't so great, if not, it can help) Long-term Side-effects: - Damage to heart and circulatory system IF user is using other vasodilators In that comparison you'd see that amphetamines/meth are more addictive and by far more dangerous than one inhalant, poppers. But if you compared it to say for example butane, the findings would be completely different. Butane is infamous for being able to cause instant death when inhaled, it also causes brain damage, and produces very little in the way of positive effects other than some mild dissociation. See what I mean? Do you know perhaps which inhalant(s) your class is referring to?
hope that helps
yeah! :D
