research the efforts of Americans to support the troops in Iraq.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tell about the various activities and contributions that Americans make to our soldiers abroad. Evaluate their efforts and compare them to the efforts of American citizens during World War I.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think all you have to do is research and compare soldiers in Iraq and the soldiers we had in WWI, hold on I will get ya an answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WW1 soldiers were heavily trained for hand to hand combat while in the trenches, as the modern soldier is more stealth and heavy fire. Even though the WW1 troops were suppose to be all about hand combat, they still had heavy machine guns, artillery, and even grenades. The training for WW1 was much more intense then the training for modern soldiers. Now I am not saying the modern boot camp is not hell, because it is; but compared to WW1 training it is like playing with kittens.

American citizen didn't come into WW1 until it was almost over. The war began in 1914, America didn't enter until 1917, so while there was some activity on 'the home front' it wasn't very much. People subscribed to war bond drives, women rolled bandages for the red cross, but compared to what was happening in Europe, in Britain and other parts of the Commonwealth, the US contribution was mainly in sending materials of war and fresh troops. But that didn't inivolve civilians.
