what value of x satisfies the linear equation 6(2+4x)=13?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We want to isolate the x term (get it on one side by itself). First we should move the 6 to the other side of the equation. Do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't know how to even start or do any of it! trying to help my son with homework but I myself haven't done this since middle school like 25 yrs ago or so!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah okay. What you want to do is do the opposite of whatever you want to get rid of. So if the left side is multiplied by 6 and you want to move it to the other side, you DIVIDE both sides by 6.

Thank you but I'am completely clueless and its just aggravating me so I appreciate the attempt to help me but its just been so long that I dont even know what you mean…I literally have to learn from scratch

Feeling stupid lol
