Fan and MEDAL I'm going to post the question in a sec

OpenStudy (phebe):

Solve for t. \[\sqrt{t+9=16}\]

OpenStudy (phebe):

do yall want answer choices

OpenStudy (phebe):

@yahman

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i simplfy this

OpenStudy (phebe):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

t=7

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Is the square root only on the left side?

OpenStudy (phebe):

u sure i thout that too but its the square root of t. So im not so sure its 7 anymore

OpenStudy (phebe):

yes @mathstudent55

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Is it supposed to be this? \(\sqrt{t + 9} = 16\)

OpenStudy (phebe):

yes

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Then square both sides. \((\sqrt{t + 9})^2 = 16^2\) \(t + 9 = 256\) Now subtract 9 from both sides to find t.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

r u sure phebe u sure its not 7

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

You can't have a square root symbol over an entire equation. That is not allowed in math and has no meaning.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Can you post the choices?

OpenStudy (phebe):

yes hold on a sec k
