Could someone walk me through how to get this answer?

You have to insert the f function inside the g function. So your x in g function is actually the f(x) function. Can your write that how would that look like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well like g(f(x)) right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let's calculate the f function value first f(x) = 2 - x^2 and x=2 f(x) = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so f(x)=2-4 ? :o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea, f(x) = -2, you got that right;) now you have your g(x) = 3x + 10 instead of the x value in g(x), you have to put f(x) value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so..... -2= 3x+10 ? hahahah im just guessing dont judge me :( lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omg nevermind you actually helped me lol thank you for getting me going. :) 4 is the answer correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm here to help, not to judge, don't worry;) nice try, but you made an error. you swapped g(x) with f(x), but what you actually had to do is swap x with f(x). try again?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea, g(x) = 3*(-2) + 10 = -6 + 10 = 4
