the first answer I got 112 the second 104 that doesnt equal 4 and 3 for either

I'd substitute your x value into each and see what happens 1st choice x = 1 and its \[4 \times(3)^{1 -1} + 4 = 8\] so that rules out the 1st equation... as when x = -1 you want y = -4 hope it helps
