Introduction and Lesson Objectives Introduction In this module you learned how to find the answers to percent problems by solving percent proportions and equations. You also learned that percent problems occur in everyday life in the form of discounts, interest, taxes, tips, and percent increase and decrease. Did you ever come across some money and know that you wanted to spend it on the best deal possible? Or have you ever been on a scavenger hunt? When you are on a scavenger hunt, you are given a list of objects to find, and you must go on a possibly difficult hunt to find them all! Lesson Objectives Discover and solve percent problems. With this project, you will get a chance to show all that you've learned about percents and use them in real-world problems. You will be discovering or creating the problems on your own, as well as solving them. You will see a choice of two projects. Read each choice carefully and choose your favorite one. Conduct research to find real-world facts for use in percent problems. Write your own percent problems using the information discovered. Solve percent problems using solution methods of choice. Report your findings. Note on Materials: You will need one of the charts in the lesson and a pencil to record your findings. You may also need a calculator to help with data composed of large numbers.
