hey all , i need help to prepare questions for a competition questions should be general information , but the students who compete all are math/chemistry/physics/biology students , any idea ?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any help ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the largest part of the brain? :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha idk, tell me i need answes too lol

mathslover (mathslover):

Why don't you search on google for "General Quiz" or General Chemistry quiz etc. ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well , its familiur with student to search on Google to prepare so i thought if every one here game 1 q it would be more intrested :)

mathslover (mathslover):

Oh! Well, I agree, students are just too good in searching on net for questions and answers :) For Physics - http://www.arborsci.com/media/60q.pdf - QUESTIONS http://www.arborsci.com/media/60q-a.pdf - ANSWERS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool , but i wanna like unique question hmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and a bit funny :O

mathslover (mathslover):

Unique questions - May be, others could help. I personally think, that there are many quest. possible but most of those can be easily found on net. Internet is a huge database... Though, I hope, you get some unique and funny questions from other uses :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok gtg nw , but i'll see the questions you would type i would appreciate it thanks for advance @mathslover i liked the pdf u sent :) thx

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

What level of Maths are you looking for? There might be plenty to look over on chemwiki and other sites in that group http://chemwiki.ucdavis.edu/ I guess you could also look at practice AP tests on different subjects and (not stealing the questions themselves), get ideas for what you might be looking for in your own questions.

mathslover (mathslover):

:) Good to hear, I found one for chemistry too : http://www.mhpracticeplus.com/mcat_review/MCAT_Review_Silberberg.pdf

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well its humm like for fun comatition , im asked to present it so i wanna general question not advance

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

I guess one could argue that even higher Maths questions can be set in a fun tone. :P I can quickly recall the detective example I had for differential eqns. But between Algebra - Calculus would be my best guess here. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well u give me an example ?

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Of all the elements on the periodic table only 2 are liquids at room temperature. What are they? Bromine and Mercury

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool but isnt it so easy :P

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

oh geez - well I didn't know exactly what your restrictions are. Let's see if I can come up with something else (maybe something abut Grand Unified Theories? LOL)

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

I guess I'm thinking in terms of trivia questions. Do you want something more like "a mass of 5 kg collides at 45° with a 3.2 kg mass. Given that the collision is 100% efficient ...) ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hum im thinking of like general funny information the question u said first is on the list :) i wanna things like that but i wanna something like more tricky

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Here's one I've always liked. Where was helium first discovered? The Sun. It was discovered by spectroscopic analysis. Here's what dictionary.com says about the origin of the word: helium 1868, coined from Gk. helios "sun" (see sol), because the element was observed in the solar spectrum during the eclipse of Aug. 18, 1868, by Eng. astronomer Sir Joseph N. Lockyer (1836-1920) and Eng. chemist Sir Edward Frankland (1825-99). It was not actually obtained until 1895.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow very interesting ... !!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

best info for today @wolf1728

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

What 2 mammals can get leprosy? humans and ?? armadillos

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so id it possible that human got inflect from the armadillos ??

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Gee - I don't know. All I know is that question and answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha ok ok but i found it cool :P

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no lol , u thx

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

well it is getting really late here - think I'll get some sleep. I'll try to think up some more questions - promise.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx ;)

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

ok u r welcome see ya

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bbye , have a good slp

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Here's a good one - but involves math calculations. A car travels from city A to city B at 60 miles per hour. On the return trip the average speed is 30 miles per hour. What is the average speed of the car for the whole trip? (Hint: It is NOT 45 miles per hour). You do not need to know the distance from city A to city B but let's suppose it is 60 miles. So for the outgoing trip, the car travels 60 miles per hour, the distance is 60 miles so this trip takes one hour. The return trip is also 60 miles but since it only traveled at 30 mph, it took 2 hours. So the entire trip took 3 hours and the entire trip was 120 miles. It took 3 hours to travel 120 miles, so in one hour it traveled at 40 miles per hour. (That is NOT a trick question. It just shows that sometimes mistakes can be made that are NOT just simple arithmetic errors.)
