Create your own third degree polynomial that when divided by x + 2 has a remainder of –4. (2 points) this is synthetic division I really need help with this guys! Anything will help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you don't really need synthetic division

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all you need is three binomials (make x + 2 one of them) that you multiply out... then add 4 to the resulting polynomial.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as a simple example of what i mean...let's say i want to make a number that when i divide it by 5 i get a remainder of 4 i can take the numbers 5, 2, and 3...multiply them together and get 30... if i add 4 to it (34) i have a number that when divided by 5 has a remainder of 4. i picked 3 numbers in this example because you are asked for a 3rd degree polynomial...so you need three pieces (binomials) to multiply...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry...don't add 4...subtract 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i missed the negative in the problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

woah. thank you so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem

hero (hero):

f(x) = (x + 2)^3 - 4

It's pretty much that easy.
