What is a function that is defined on [-1,1] but isn't continuous?

OpenStudy (ankit042):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like an example of a function that is defined on that interval but is not continuous

OpenStudy (ankit042):

f(x) = 1/2 -1<x<1/2 -2 for x>1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This means that at some point which belongs to this interval function has 2 different limits from the left and right. And if it was continuous limits would be the same.

OpenStudy (ankit042):

Just a small update I forgot to add equal to sign you can put it -2 for x>=1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i understand what the graph will look like, having a whole or jump, but I'm not sure how to express it
