Quick easy problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Isn't \[\sqrt[4]{k ^{2}}\] simply \[k ^{4}\]

OpenStudy (ranga):

That is the fourth root which is same as raising to the exponent 1/4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

meant k\[k^1/4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol sorry about that, wrote too fast. But is that the correct answer? \[k ^{1/4}\]

OpenStudy (ranga):

\[\Large \sqrt[4]{k^2} = (k^2)^\frac 14 = k^\frac 24 = k^\frac 12 = \sqrt{k}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AH, thank u for writing it out. I was thinking when you removed the sqr root that the 2 was removed from the k. I understand it now thank you

OpenStudy (ranga):

You are welcome.
