What is the difference between a histogram and a bar graph? A histogram uses lines and a bar graph uses bars. A histogram and bar graph are basically the same. "Histogram" is just the technical word. A histogram is used for mathematical data, while the bar graph is used for scientific data. A histogram uses continuous data on the x axis, while a bar graph uses non-continuous data or categories on the x-axis.
