What was Lyndon Johnson's philosophy for getting things accomplished as a politician?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

According to Billy Saul Estus, steal as much as possible, use inside information on commodities reports to clean up in the futures market, and pay off the criminals in Hyannis Port to remain in power. "There is no person too large to sacrifice in pursuit of greater political power." Many believe that JFK was on that list.

LBJ was signed into presidency after JFK was assassinated. Johnson recognized that the country was grieving and shocked about their president's death, he then signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Johnson was not a segregationist, he was a young scholar from Texas, while there, he was working with a lot of poor Mexican American children. He realized not to long after that that yhu cannot please everybody. He waged war on a lot of things, urging the passage of the Voting Rights Act, he said, "There is no Negro problem. There is no Southern problem. There is no Northern problem. There is only an American problem. And we are met here tonight as Americans-we are met here as American to solve that problem. What happened in Selma is part of a far larger movement which reaches into every section and State of America. It is the effort of American Negroes to secure for themselves the full blessings of American life. Their cause must be our cause too. Because it is not just Negroes, but really it is all of us, who must overcome the crippling legacy of bigotry and injustice." After pausing a moment, he added "And, we shall overcome." He emphasized that the black struggle, was an a struggle for America's soul.
