Vector u has initial point (-6, -1) and terminal point (-5, 3). Write u in component form.

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

\[u = <x,y>\] is a vector in component form I believe. The x-component will be difference of the x values of the terminal and initial points. The y-component will be the difference of the y values of the terminal and initial points.

Would seeing my option help more?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's <-11,2>

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Well, not really. I'm explaining how to do it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just had to add the two x's y's values, right?

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

\[u = <-5 - (-6) , 3 - (-1)>\]

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

No you're not adding them. You're find the difference between them, which will be the vertical component of the vector, u.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

<1,4> Okay, thank you.
