Can some one help me with this topic. I just don't know how i would go about starting out. Justify the isolationist position that the U.S. should not enter the war. Remember, write as if the attack on Pearl Harbor had not yet happened. I just have to write a paragraph.

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

After WWI, there was a growing feeling among Americans that they didn't want to fight another such war. That's why the Senate rejected Wilson's League of Nations treaty. The election of 1928 was a complete rejection of Wilson's ideas of international cooperation. When you add in the experience of most American's during Roosevelt's Depression and you get a large group of people interested in fixing things at home and letting other countries take care of themselves. An isolationist before Pearl Harbor would make the argument that isolationists always make. -We don't need to meddle in the affairs of other countries. -Why should we spend American taxes and American lives to fight somebody else's war? -Only rich people benefit from helping other countries. -Things are bad here. Let's take care of ourselves first. -George Washington warned of foreign entanglements.
