hartnn (hartnn):
have you been introduced to trigonometric ratios ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Remember your trig ratios?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I always get confused on which one to use and end up with the wrong answer
OpenStudy (campbell_st):
there is no measurement on the hypotenuse... and you don't need to find the length of the hypotenuse... so that eliminates 2 ratios....
which ratio doesn't use the hypotenuse...?

would I use the ASA one?
OpenStudy (campbell_st):
no... it requires trigonometry
OpenStudy (anonymous):
No worries

Adjacent is adjacent to the angle theta
Opposite is opposite to the angle
And the longest side is the hypotenuse
\[\large \sin \theta = \frac{ opp }{ hyp } \]
\[\large \cos \theta = \frac{ adj }{ hyp }\]
\[\large \tan \theta = \frac{ opp }{ adj }\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so it would be tan
OpenStudy (campbell_st):
a good way to remember the adjacent side is that it runs from the angle to the right angle..
