I need help finding the area of the image. PLEASE I know how to find the area of something but I keep coming up with the wrong answer. The coordinate plane shows the floor plan for a swimming pool. What is the area of the pool’s border?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have any answer choices or any numbers to calculate??

OpenStudy (kitkat16):

OpenStudy (kitkat16):

@Pianolover03 can u help me please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me try =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So do you know what to do first or is that the part you are stuck on??

OpenStudy (kitkat16):

I need to L(W)

OpenStudy (kitkat16):

Then i would need to subtract the area of the pool yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, So do you know the numbers for the equation to work it out?

OpenStudy (kitkat16):

no Its 15 meters long

OpenStudy (kitkat16):

I can tell just by looking at it it is not my 1st 3 answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what are your answer choices?

OpenStudy (kitkat16):

my choices are 50 square meters 65 square meters 80 square meters 100 square meters 125 square meters

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you, It will just be a sec.

Notice that all the triangles in this diagram are of the 3-4-5 proportions. You can, for example, find the length of the border by noticing that it hits at 9 and 12 so it must be 15 meters long. Use the same method to find the width. Use the same method to find the length and width of the pool. LW of border - lw of pool = answer.

OpenStudy (kitkat16):

how did you get 15 from 9 and 12

OpenStudy (kitkat16):

@Pianolover03 I figuared it out The area of the pool & border is A = Area L= Length = 15 W + widith = 10 A = 150 The pool area is L = 10 w= 5 A= 50 So the area of the perimeter = 100 square meters
