A unit rate is a rate with 1 in the denominator. If a rate is given and the quantity in the denominator is not 1, unit rate is calculated by finding an equal ratio such that the denominator is 1. Think of the phrase: money per apple. In math this would be written as: $ / apple. So, use this to find the unit rate. You have $1 and 7 apples. So, the unit rate would be found by dividing money/apples = 100/7 (there are 100 cents in a dollar) So, 100/7 = 14.3 cents per apple Hope this helps :)
