The picture shows a box sliding down a ramp. What is the distance, in feet, that the box has to travel to move from point A to point C? 12 / sec 65 degrees 12 cosec 65° 12 sin 65° 12 / cot 65 degrees

As you can see you have 2 out of the 3 angles so you can find the third and also we see one of our angles is a 90 degree so our triangle is a right angle triangle and the law of sines applies!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The longer side is the side we are looking for which would make it the hypotenuse and depending on the angle you want to choose and the trig law you would like to choose you can use the 12.0 to figure out the problem and remember your trigs\[\sin \theta = Opposite/ Hypotenuse\]\[Cos \theta = Adjacent/ Hypotenuse\]\[Tan \theta = Opposite/ Adjacent\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what do you think the answer is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It all depends on your choice for trig law that you would like to use

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If we use the angle 65 to find the missing side then we would use \[Sin (65) = 12/ x\] If instead we want to use the other angle which is 25 degrees based on triangle having to equal up to 180 then we would use \[Cos (25) = 12/ x\]

Solve for x and you will find out which relationship equals your side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So i just have to divide 12 / 65?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its a?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No you still have a sin you can not forget about that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is not the answer to your question but a guideline of what to do with the other trig law to get your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is my last exam of the year, and i really just need the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You will need this in 90% of mathematics classes from here on out it is best if you retain it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Follow my steps with Sin(65) = 12/x and it will get you your answer
