Help with Algebra please The vertices of a rectangle are listed below. E(3, 3), F(3, 9), G(11, 9), H(11, 3) What is the area of the rectangle? A. 96 square units B. 48 square units C. 192 square units D. 28 square units

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See how some vertices have the same x values, while others have the same y value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since the area of a rectangle is length times width we simply have to find the length and the width from the points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The change in the y values is basically the width, and the change in x values is the length

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So to start off, what are all of the different x values of the vertices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i really dont know i got an answer but im not sure if its right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

E(3, 3), F(3, 9), G(11, 9), H(11, 3) The x values range from 3 to 11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

vertex of a quadratic equation is wht im suppose to be using right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3,9,11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually this should be much simpler than that. All we need is the length and the width of the rectangle to find the area.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

E(3, 3), F(3, 9), G(11, 9), H(11, 3) Since the vertices of the corners of the rectangle lie on 3 and 11, that means the length of the rectangle is the distance between 3 to 11, which is 8.
