Can someone check my answer for this please?
A scientist measures the angle x and the distance y between the Earth and the sun. Using complete sentences, explain how the scientist can use only these two measurements to calculate the distance between the moon and the sun.

The scientist can use trig functions to solve for the distances. (d = distance) (d)sin(x) = y I don't know if this is enough info or if I need to elaborate more
because tan (x) =\(\dfrac{Earth~to ~Sun}{Earth~~to~~Moon}\) so that, if he can measure the distance between the Earth and the Moon and the angle between the Moon and the Sun, then he can calculate the distance between the Earth and the Sun
so I guess i was wrong with my answer.
The scientist can use trig functions to solve for the measurements. tan (x) = earth to sun / earth to moon. He needs to figure out the angle between the moon and sun, and the distance from the earth to the moon to be able to figure out the distance from the earth to the sun. @Loser66 does this work so I'm not directly copying your answer?
why not?
If you don't want, just paraphrase, it's ok, too. hihihihih
