OpenStudy (linn99123):

What is tan F? A. 8/15 B. 8/17 C.15/8 D.15/17 http://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1422500_1423000/1422772/1/bf19756fde51abc45bb758921813e7f2756678db/MS_PA_131002_171221.jpg

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

When it comes to triangles: \[tangent(x) = \frac{opposite}{adjacent}\] Where 'x' is the given angle, in this case, F.

OpenStudy (linn99123):

so wouldnt that be 17/15?

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Nope, the hypotenuse isn't the opposite side. It's the hypotenuse. tan(F) = opposite side/side next to it

OpenStudy (linn99123):

so 15/17?

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

No. .-. We don't use 17, that's the length of the hypotenuse, the longest side. When I talk about opposite and adjcaent side, I'm talking about the shorter sides of the triangle.

OpenStudy (linn99123):

o :o

OpenStudy (linn99123):

sowwy D:

OpenStudy (linn99123):

B and d is out

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Mhmm. Make sure you're looking at angle F, now. :3

OpenStudy (linn99123):

8 over 15 most likely ..

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Yaaassss. :)

OpenStudy (linn99123):

yay
