Can someone confirm my reasoning? I am comparing two objects with greatly different mass, but exactly the same momentum. The object with less mass should be moving with a greater speed since speed = momentum/mass. Am I correct?

You're right on. Momentum is a vector quantity, so technically, you should use velocity when calculating momentum.
