Please This is really Urgent. Due Tomorrow. I need help completing the definition. A pyramid is a ________ with one ________ face (called the base) and whose other faces (lateral faces) are ________ formed by segments connecting the vertices of the base to a common point (the vertex) not on the base.
@jim_thompson5910 can you help me out with this?
@Night-Watcher
what are the answer choices?
It just says to fill in the blanks
oh, well it that case i can't really help. but you can try looking at this to give you an idea http://www.mathsisfun.com/definitions/pyramid.html
For the first blank, think of what you'd call any 3d figure in geometry
prism?
close
polyhedron
better
a pyramid is a polyhedron so the base is a _______
polygon?
so the answer for blank #2 is polygonal (the adjective form of polygon)
the base is a polygon, so it's a polygonal base the lateral faces are always triangles (for any type of polygon that forms the base) so you have triangular lateral faces
a square pyramid is probably what you're most familiar with (eg: pyramids of egypt) |dw:1400817778313:dw| not a great drawing, but you get the idea the base is a square while the lateral faces are all triangles
Yeah i get the idea :)
